FAQ

What is FinGather?

FinGather is a portfolio tracker that helps you keep all your investments in one place. It gives you a clearer view of performance, dividends, fees, taxes, and foreign exchange impact so you can understand how your portfolio is really doing.

Who is FinGather for?

FinGather is a good fit for long-term investors as well as more active users who want a clearer view of their portfolio than they can get from a standard broker account or a spreadsheet. It is designed for people investing in stocks, ETFs, and other assets who want to track results more easily and in greater detail.

Why use FinGather instead of Excel or broker reports?

Excel is flexible, but it is time-consuming and easy to break. Broker reports often provide only a limited view of your portfolio. FinGather combines clarity, automation, and advanced analytics so you can see real performance, dividends, benchmarks, and portfolio allocation in one place.

How does FinGather help me track my portfolio better?

FinGather shows more than just your current portfolio value. It helps you follow performance over time, gains and losses, dividends, fees, taxes, and currency impact. This gives you a clearer view of what is working, where your biggest exposure is, and how your portfolio compares with the market.

How do I get started with FinGather?

You simply create an account and add your first portfolio. From there, you can import your investments and start tracking performance, reports, and analytics. You can get started for free.

How can I import my portfolio into FinGather?

You can upload your portfolio by importing your historical investment data. FinGather supports CSV and Excel imports, and higher plans also include API imports. This lets you choose the method that works best for you.

Does FinGather support CSV or Excel imports?

Yes. FinGather supports portfolio imports through CSV and Excel files, so you can upload your transaction history and get started quickly.

Does FinGather support API imports?

Yes. API imports are available in the Pro plan. They are ideal for users who want a more convenient way to keep their portfolio in sync with less manual work.

What if my broker is not supported?

You can usually still upload your portfolio through CSV or Excel import. That means you are not limited to direct integrations and can use FinGather even without an API connection to your broker.

What types of assets can I track in FinGather?

FinGather is built to help you track an investment portfolio across multiple asset types. Based on the current public website, it is primarily positioned around stocks and ETFs while offering portfolio-wide analytics and reporting.

What is the difference between the Free, Investor, and Pro plans?

The Free plan is designed for getting started and for smaller portfolios. Investor adds more advanced features such as index benchmarks, custom groups, overviews, and transaction exports. Pro is intended for more advanced users and additionally includes API imports, price alerts, custom benchmarks, and tax reports.

How does FinGather calculate portfolio performance?

FinGather tracks the key metrics investors need for a more realistic view of portfolio performance. This includes realized and unrealized gains, dividends, returns, and foreign exchange impact. As a result, you get a more accurate picture than you would from a simple account value overview.

Are dividends, fees, and taxes included in the results?

Yes. FinGather is designed to help you track more than just asset prices. It also takes dividends, fees, and taxes into account, helping you evaluate the true performance of your portfolio more accurately.

Can FinGather show the impact of foreign exchange rates?

Yes. FinGather includes foreign exchange impact in its analytics, so you can see how currency movements affect your portfolio results.

How does portfolio benchmarking work?

With FinGather, you can compare your portfolio against a benchmark to see whether you are outperforming a selected market or index. The Investor plan includes index benchmarks, while the Pro plan also supports custom benchmarks.

Can I create my own asset groups in FinGather?

Yes. FinGather lets you organize your portfolio not only with predefined groups, but also with your own custom groups. This makes it easier to structure your portfolio around your own rules and investment style.

Can FinGather track dividends?

Does FinGather offer a dividend calendar?
